Play Time!

I think this is part of a monarch.

Hmmm...I wonder if anyone can give a toddler a hand cuz' this is kind of advanced.

I think I'll just resort to the good old clapping and stacking the blocks.

How cool, I can hang out in this hive. BUZZ!

Perhaps I can kick back in this honey comb.

Stand back, I'm going in.

Okay, bad idea. Little bit of a tight squeeze.

This has been a blast but I've got lunch and nap time to get to. See ya!

Jahara's Favorite Exhibit Hands Down

The Butterfly Exhibit

I can't read just yet but this is really cool.

Just think, last time I came here I was stuck just rolling around watching the world go by.

Now I'm able to roam about and take in all the nature.

Even the rocks are more interesting from this vantage point.

Let me chill out here for a minute though and see if any butterflies fly in to say hello.

Look there's one over there!

Rats! He didn't stay still long enough for me to pet him.

This is an interesting piece of nature though.

Let's see how much mom is paying attention with all her picture taking. I'm going to try to get up these stairs.

Foiled again, but things are pretty cool down here too.

It's just like the bathtub at home, only MUCH BIGGER!

Since no lifeguard is on duty, I will settle for splashing around in this puddle.

Yeah! Water and butterflies!

Maybe I'll have better luck petting one of these.

Nedra, you create the diversion while I move in.

No dice!

Holy cow! Somehow I missed this guy before. I suppose it is a post-Ike sized mosquito. You know they say everything really is bigger in Texas.

A Trip to the Duck Park

After being cooped up for several days post-Ike, Nedra and I set off to the duck park. Looks like a lot of other toddlers had the same idea.

Poor ducks, wonder if FEMA is going to fix their fountain?

Okay Nedra, I'm bored too. Let's go check out how the butterflies survived the storm. Next stop, the Museum of Natural Science.

Hanging with the Big Kids During the Hurrication

Whoa! Lyndon! You came out of nowhere!

Ha-Ha! Never underestimate the toddler element of surprise.

I can't wait til' I'm big enough for my OWN princess outfit.

I wonder if I could butter one of these ladies up to lend me one in a couple of years.

Check me out, I'm already wearing purple to show off my princess aspirations. Hopefully they'll keep me in mind.

Jahara Jams to Bob Marley

Jahara's a Dancing Machine

The Morning of the Hurricane (It's Not Over Yet Folks)

Mommy, Me, and Ike

The storm scared me a bit but not as much as mom looking like Emperor Palpatine.

Whoa, it's green lightening!

The wind is nuts too!

The Sounds Of Ike

This is what woke me up at 4am.

Playing with Neighborhood Kids Before Ike

Pre-Ike Photos

I can't read yet, but apparently this plywood masterpiece got a lot of laughs.
This one looks more serious, until you read the request to send beer.

Neighbors who have never talked before get to know each other while waiting for the storm.

Here is another group just hanging out.

Others took the opportunity to water the roots of their trees (although I don't quiet understand why given the deluge of impending rain).

The best part was hanging out with all the big kids.

Catch me if you can!

Ahhh! She's closing in on me! RUUUUN!

I also got to see Tish again, but who is this guy with the awesome shirt?

It's Herb! Don't they just look cute together (and even better with me in the picture).

Jahara 'Picasso' Alvarez

As I set out to create my masterpiece, color choice is very important.

What do you think?

Vuooala!

Now if you'll excuse me, all these artistic endeavors sure worked up my appetite.
